The Chicken And The Eggs (Recipes!)

The Chicken And The Eggs (Recipes!)

My life has been surrounded by lots of lots of eggs lately. I know I have mentioned the fact that I have been eating WHOLE eggs lately. Egg whites are a thing of the past for me. Eggs one of the most nutrient-dense foods available. One egg provides 13 essential nutrients, all in the yolk (contrary to popular belief, the yolk is far higher in nutrients than the white) Whole eggs are an excellent source of Vitamin K which is vital for strong bones and preventing osteoporosis. The egg yolks also  contain a highly bioavailable source of lutein and zeaxanthin which are carotenoids that protect…

Fitterati

Fitterati

Friday evening I was relaxing on the sofa watching TV and reading over my e-mails on my iPhone. I scrolled through an e-mail from  Fitness Magazine really quickly. Getting an e-mail from Fitness Mag is not atypical for me considering I subscribe to their e-mails and have a subscription to the magazine, it is one of my favorites. I kept scrolling and then read the words… Your blog, Food. Fitness. Fashion, has been nominated for a 2012 Fitterati Blog Awards on FitnessMagazine.com! I shot up out of my seat and said to Adam, “Be right back. I just got an e-mail…

How do You Approach Change?

How do You Approach Change?

My husband and I view the act of making change quite differently. It makes sense: we are different people. Although I suppose much of the way we approach it depends on the change itself, I’m fascinated by the fact that what works for some people won’t necessarily work for others. Take the act of quitting smoking. Some people need to quit cold turkey, while others are more apt to want to quit over time by slowly weaning themselves off of their addiction. Another example of making change could be cutting out fried foods. Some people will rarely, if ever, touch…

The Privilege of Running

The Privilege of Running

You do not have to run, you get to run! The first time I heard this phrase, it really stuck with me because it embodied who I used to be, who I became, and who I am right now.  Many of times when we run to lose weight or to burn off that big bowl of ice-cream we ate the night before, running becomes a chore – something that we must do in order to counteract previous actions.  And once upon a time, this is how I viewed running.  It was something that I had to do.  I did not…

The Reluctant Hubby: Start Small, Your Body Should Follow

The Reluctant Hubby: Start Small, Your Body Should Follow

Baby steps … A couple months back, I began the process of becoming The Reluctant Hubby. Actually, I already was TRH, only I had now started blogging about my attempts to be less reluctant, to be more open to the idea of treating myself better, to going to the gym and exercising more frequently. It’s been a hit and miss process with, luckily, more hits than misses. I’ve dropped weight and my body looks better thanks to cutting out a significant portion of processed food in my diet and eating healthier breakfasts. (And no, I don’t miss cereal.) The misses…

Restaurant Review: Tomasso Trattoria & Enoteca

Restaurant Review: Tomasso Trattoria & Enoteca

First off, I apologize for my rant on my last post.  Dave thinks I scared away some of my readers so I apologize for being very insensitive, but sometimes a girls got to vent!!! Last night Dave and I had plans to go into Boston to celebrate my best friend Courtney’s 30th birthday.  But before that, I suggested trying out Tomasso on Rt. 9 in Southboro, a restaurant we have passed a thousand times before. We got there at about 6:45 and the place was already really crowded.  We were told that without reservations, the only seats available were either…

Leaving on a Jet Plane…

Leaving on a Jet Plane…

Good morning ladies! As you’re reading this post, I am most likely laying on the beach, sipping a margarita on the rocks while catching up on my magazine reading. Yup, I am on vacation for the week to Punta Cana with my family, and won’t return to Boston until Sunday the 11th. While many people may cringe at the thought of vacationing with the family, I’ve never been so excited to get away. You see, my family is quite the hoot and I’m always my happiest, most comfortable self when I’m with them (well, maybe not all the time but…

The Morning Refresher: Carrot, Apple, Ginger Juice

The Morning Refresher: Carrot, Apple, Ginger Juice

The Healthy Chick shares a classic recipe usually purchased in stores, but now this looks so easy! {as you can see, I couldn’t resist drinking some before the picture} In the Mix: 4 small to medium carrots, organic if possible 1 small apple, organic (I used Granny Smith because that’s what I had on hand, but any juicy apple works) handful of mixed greens (I used a blend of arugula, spinach, and romaine) one inch cut of fresh ginger juice of 1/2 small lemon Use your juicer to blend the carrots, apple, greens and ginger. Add lemon juice at the…

No More Excuses! Motivational Quotes to Get Your Butt In Gear

No More Excuses! Motivational Quotes to Get Your Butt In Gear

I had a little pity party for myself this morning. I got pissed. I cried. And then I got over it. Life’s not fair. Accept and adjust. My goal was to return to CrossFit today to do WOD 12.2, but, sadly, I’m still in no condition to do any sort of strenuous exercise, which means I’ll probably take a DNF on this workout. Obviously, I’m bummed, but I’m not going to push myself before my body is totally healthy. Instead of letting this negativity consume me, I turned it into something positive by creating a Fitness board on Pinterest with all sorts of motivational…
